About
St Illtud's Church and Galilee Chapel
One of the most important churches in Wales containing a collection of ancient crosses.
St Illtud established a Church and place of learning here in 500AD. The imposing 11th century Church now standing on this site has been called the Westminster of Wales. At the western end stands the Galilee Chapel which houses an exhibition of Celtic crosses and carved stones - the finest collection outside of the National Museum of Wales.
